I am a high energy teacher who spent over nine years in the field of education. I worked as a substitute teacher, a paraprofessional in special needs, and finally as a licensed classroom teacher. I recently taught English Language Arts at the Middle School level at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Early College in Denver Public School. This was my second year teaching at this school and it was a difficult decision to leave. I look forward to new opportunities within the field of education.
I have also coached gymnastics for four years part-time while teaching. I coached at Wolf Recenter in Evergreen Colorado. I went to state from this gym as a teacher and competed as a USAG level gymnast for ten years. I am also the female novice Golden Glove Champion for 2021 and have since gone on to be a professional boxer. I am familiar with good training techniques and am experienced in strength and conditioning.
I taught full time online through an district developed one year Elearning program. I taught an electives course for 6-8th graders called Dimensions in Literacy. This was a course designed to support students with areas of growth in literacy. I worked closely with SPED teachers and other learning specialists in order to support students enrolled in this online school in Douglas County. I frequently attended IEP meetings with SPED teachers and parents and I held conferences for parents each semester. I frequently communicated with families about how to support student learning online and I collected and analyzed student learning data in order to complete and implement numerous READ Plans for students who qualify for support under Colorado's READ Care Act. I wrote many READ plans after setting goals, instructing, collecting, and analyzing student literacy data. I collaborated with other online general education teachers in order to support students with literacy gaps. We were successful at bridging learning gaps and were successful at implementing a standardized based curriculum which ensured growth in all areas of literacy this year.
I taught high school English for two years at Clear Creek High School.I taught six sections of English Language Arts. I created and designed lessons that focused on fostering critical thinking skills through the study of literature. I implemented a rigorous standards based curriculum which allowed for students to hone their literacy skills while also providing students with the opportunity to approach learning tasks and assessments on their own terms and with their own creative talents. I planned, graded, provided timely feedback, provided timely communication with parents, and communicated and collaborated with teachers in order to create interdisciplinary approaches to lessons. I attended professional development workshops regularly and made contributions to group endeavors. I was also elected treasurer of the CCCEA (Clear Creek County Education Association) and made many meaningful contributions to this association.
I supported students with personalized accommodations, extra assistance and educational assessments for. I collaborated with teacher to develop personalized and successful learning strategies for students on the spectrum. I communicated affirmatively and promoted positive attitudes with every student. I worked in tandem with teacher to develop customized classroom environment conducive to students' needs.
I enforced classroom routines to keep students on schedule and operating at consistent level. I implemented lesson plans assigned by classroom teacher to educate students about key concepts.
Provided notes and reports on school day activities to primary teacher. I was requested as substitute teacher based on excellent referrals and trusted performance. I engaged students in discussions to promote interest and drive learning. I educated students in various subjects to provide seamless transition during absence of head teacher.
I maintained student attendance and assignment records to prevent lapses during teacher absences.
