After rejoining the Atlas team, I had the unique opportunity to serve as the sole Treatment Coordinator for the practice's general dentist, sedation dentist, and endodontist. Working in this fast-paced, specialty-driven environment, I played a critical role in managing patient treatments, verifying insurance, and communicating financial obligations while maintaining a strong focus on exceptional patient care in endodontics. My role required balancing the needs of multiple specialists and meeting daily and monthly production goals, all while fostering positive relationships with both patients and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
I began my role at Light Dental Studios as a Patient Care Coordinator, where I was responsible for scheduling patients, verifying insurance benefits, collecting copays, and maintaining routine office procedures. Shortly after, I was promoted to Credentialing Manager, where I took charge of a previously unmanaged department for 21 locations and over 50 doctors.
Key Achievements:
As the Administrative Coordinator at a small general practice, I oversee all office operations to ensure everything runs smoothly. My responsibilities include managing patient scheduling, maintaining records, verifying insurance, and communicating benefits and copayments to patients. I work to optimize the daily schedule, meet production goals, and keep accounts receivable healthy. I also collaborate with the team to identify areas for improvement and streamline our processes, always aiming to provide the best service for our patients.
As the first point of contact for our practice, I play a key role in managing communication with patients, referring offices, and insurance companies. My responsibilities include answering phone calls, emails, texts, and interacting with patients in person. I work closely with general dentists, insurance companies, and our periodontists to ensure patients receive the care they need.
A significant part of my role is obtaining treatment referrals and records from referring offices, ensuring strong, ongoing relationships with those offices to support continued collaboration. I also submit preauthorizations, explain insurance estimates and benefits to patients, and communicate our office payment agreements, collecting payment at the time of treatment.
For high-risk patients, I submit medical clearance forms, schedule case discussions, and arrange specialty tests. Additionally, I prepare prescriptions, consent forms, driving releases, and aftercare appointments on a daily basis, all while ensuring seamless communication and excellent patient care.
