Greek Life Activities
Current:
- Chi Omega Philanthropy Chair: For the past two semesters I have put on numerous events to entertain and raise money for Make A Wish. I have also hosted events (Valentine's card writing/Sponsored kids for Christmas/Christmas cards) to support the BG Boys and Girls Club. I was able to raise enough to grant a wish for a future child, with the involvement of the community, in my time as Philanthropy Chair. Some other responsibilities I filled are creating advertisement/posters/banners, communicating with executive board, set up/tear down, budgeting, as well as giving a speech during 2023 recruitment on Chi Omega’s Philanthropy. Being Philanthropy chair is by far one of the biggest highlights of my time in Chi Omega.
- Chi Omega Sisterhood Support Team: I attend the weekly new member meetings alongside our New Member Educator. We help them with their transition into Greek Life and college, in order to make it as easy as possible. We teach them about the history and foundations of Chi Omega. I also lead a small group that helps new members become well versed in Chi Omega's values, etc. I am also there as a mentor and friend to lean on!
- Chi Omega Pledge Class Spirit Leader: For Homecoming we have Spirit Chairs. Spirit Chairs are responsible for keeping the energy high throughout the week, as well as outfits and makeup. As a Spirit Chair Leader for my pledge class, PC, I am in charge of boosting morale and encouraging girls to be as active as possible during Homecoming. I also add ideas and help develop outfits and makeup for my PC. Homecoming is a huge deal for Chi Omega, so this is something I am very excited for.
Previous:
Chi Omega Bid Day Committee (2022-2023): I helped prep during Work Week and Recruitment for Bid Day decorations with the direction of Chi Omega’s New Member Educator. I also helped day of Bid Day with other Chi Omega’s setting up and cleaning up.
- Chi Omega Recruitment Decorations Team (2023): I assisted our decorations board with setting up Recruitment decorations (i.e., curtains, chairs, tables, etc.)
- Chi Omega Blood Drive Support Team: I went to each day of the Greek Week Blood Drive and sat with Chi Omega’s, and even a few others with another Greek affiliation, while they donated blood. When I donated blood for the first time, I was terrified because I didn’t know the common procedure. Even though donating blood is hardly invasive, it can be a scary experience for new goers. I was able to hold the hand of multiple sisters and support them while they donated. I also encouraged others to donate, if they can, or find someone who could donate for them.
- Chi Omega Props/Costume committee (2023): I helped paint and cut out props for Spring Sing as well as add details to costumes for the performance. I also helped with props for Sigma Phi Epsilon because Chi Omega coached their Spring Sing performance in the 2023 competition.
- Chi Omega T-shirt Chair (2022): As T-shirt Chair I coordinated with other Chi O chairs/executive board to create specialized merchandise for differing events like Homecoming, dances/formals, Parent’s Weekend, Dad’s Day, etc. I had to be in constant communication with an apparel company to design and order shirts in a timely manner. I was also responsible for distribution to members.
- Chi Omega Sisterhood Chats Leader (2021): I led a small group of Chi Omega's in a group discussion revolving the improvement of our chapter and a short reflection of the larger discussion.
Offices held in other organizations-
- WKU Club Volleyball PR Chair: I create merchandise for the team including jerseys, practice shirts, and extra merchandise for the team or parents. I also run the Instagram to keep in touch with other clubs, post updates, and other important information. The Instagram platform is how we often communicate with other clubs to join tournaments, etc.
Other involvement worth mentioning-
- Chi Omega makeup/hair for Spring Sing/Homecoming (2022-2023): Although this was a small role, I mention it to show my involvement and support in everything Chi Omega. I did multiple girls’ makeup and hair for Spring Sing. This role just helped take a little stress off girls performing. For Homecoming, we typically have a specific theme with outfits/makeup to look uniform. I did makeup for our chapter as well as FH/Lambda Chi in the 2022 Homecoming.
- Intern with WKU Football Recruitment staff: On home game days I help prep (pick up food for Official Visits/family members/other guests/wives tailgate), check players in, assist in walking players around the facility to observe pregame warmups, answer any questions regarding the team or campus life. I am there to help showcase the school as well as WKU’s football program to prospective players.
- Clothes On Inc. Campus Rep: I am a campus representative for an apparel company called Clothes On Inc. I got this gig after being Chi Omega’s T-shirt chair. I was approached with the opportunity at the conclusion of my position. With this, I help create merch for different chapters on campus for their events/chapter members. I also have done orders for clubs on campus and a high school volleyball team.
- Other clubs/activities: I am also a member of Rho Lambda, Order of Omega, WKU Club Volleyball team, and Women in Business. Lastly, I attend Living Hope Church in Bowling Green and a women’s led bible study and their college nights on Wednesdays!
