Assist museums, galleries, and private collectors with transporting their art and artifact collections. Work with museums to coordinate the installation, de-installation of exhibitions. Coordinate with museums and supervise traveling exhibitions. Arrange international shipments including customs clearance.
Fundraiser and develop traveling exhibitions for small to mid size museums. Arrange all exhibition development from curation to exhibition fabrication, packing/crating and transportation to and from museums in the western region of the U.S. Travel exhibitions that reflect the richness of California and the western region of the United States arts, culture and environment.
Maintain the museum's permanent collection of 100,000 art objects. Work with curatorial and conservation departments to organize and oversee the installation and deinstallation of art for both in-house and traveling exhibitions. Work with international art shipping companies to lend the museum's collection to museums within the United States and internationally. Supervise the couriering of rare and fragile art by conservators, curators and museum staff to venues nationally and internationally and make all loan, insurance and travel arrangements.
Assist the Registrar in overseeing the collection management and registration needs of the museum's permanent collection. Work as a team member with the Collections Management Department and Design Team to develop and implement in-house temporary and permanent exhibitions.
Assist faculty and students in accessing objects from the Visual Resource Center. Manage research on SlideCat, the online collection database. Organize and house a collection of 300,000 35mm slides, glass lantern slides, photographs, and negatives. Provide collection maintenance for the Branson DeCou and Chuck Abbot Archive. Supervise ongoing collection management and preventative conservation for acquisitions and related records.
Assisted the Registrar and Curator with a de-accession project and upcoming exhibition Valley of Heart’s Delight. Conducted an inventory of candidates for de-accession, took digital images of such candidates, and updated the Master Catalog using File Maker Pro to reflect changes of locations and current conditions. Researched provenance for objects using accession and donor files.
Provided assistance to the Registrar’s Office in various aspects of collection management. Inventoried the nineteenth and twentieth century American Art galleries and Costume and Textiles storage rooms. Worked with artist files, donor files and correspondence files. Gave support to the Registrar and Assistant Registrar of Exhibitions on the Made in California exhibition. Provided assistance in moving and storing archive materials.
Processed Interlibrary Loans, rendered assistance to museum curators and members of the public conducting research. Assisted the Chief Librarian in the organization and preservation of library materials including maps, rare books and illustrations in the Special Collection. Curated displays of rare books and drawings in display cases in and around the library.
Curated the Paul Sierra: A Cultural Corridor exhibition. Worked with staff and the Board of Trustees in the development of the museum Curatorial Department policies as well as general museum policies and its long range plan. Conducted research on future exhibitions such as the upcoming exhibition on the art collaborative Los Four. Co-curated art, children's art, Day of the Dead, and mural exhibitions and assisted the Education and Registration Department in the establishment of departmental policies and procedures.
Assisted the archivists with organizing the Special Collection Archives. Worked with students and researchers conducting research pertaining to the university, early twentieth century San Francisco photography, the John Steinbeck Collection, Henry Miller Collection, local Santa Cruz County history, and various archive holdings.
