  • Oversee and manage the Design & Construction Services department of over 30 people, a combination of state employees and consultants, in the implementation of the university's capital programs and projects.

  • Develop, coordinate, implement, and communicate the strategic visions, hand in hand with the Director of the Facilities Department, to ensure we are consistently aligned with addressing deferred maintenance, and the operations and maintenance impacts of projects.
  • Create and manage the Request for Qualification (RFQ) and Request for Proposals (RFP) process for various construction delivery methods, such as CM at Risk, Design-Build, and Collaborative Design-Build.
  • Meet with Deans, Faculty, Staff, Students, and Facilities Coordinators to review potential projects within their respective colleges. Provide contribution of innovative ideas or approaches to enhance the efficient delivery of projects.
  • Manage and work successfully with a diverse group of over 30 staff members to accomplish common goals and address issues related to our design and construction services. This includes mentorship and professional development to exceed customer satisfaction.
  • Create and provide presentations to executive leadership, and a wide range of constituents at university meetings, the CSU, and higher education conferences and meetings.
  • Manage the professional design consultants and construction project managers on the development of environmental compliance (CEQA), programs, budgets, plans, specifications, bids, and awards for the successful implementation of capital projects.
  • Provide support and guidance to the department to maintain a collaborative work environment.
