It is done once a year. there are several categories someone can an be nominated for. You are nominated by a group of your peers. They write this wonderful letter to let the committee know all the wonderful things you do inside the organization and outside. This is sent to committee to be divided in each categories. They read all the letters and then they knock it down to 50 in each category, Then the reread them again to knock it down to 10 in each category. Then they do it all over again to get the top 3 for each category. You go to New Orleans to the Spirit of Leadership Program and your picture along with the other 2 people you are against is place on a screen and they tell you a little bit about each person and they announce the winner.
