Clinical Experience

Most of our clinical skills were completed in a Long Term Care Center., Most of the skills performed this semester were completed at Hunt Regional Medical Center on the Med-Surgical floor. We had up to 2 patients and we would administer medication with supervision and did full patient care., Most of the skills performed were on our own. By the end of the semester we were administering medication for five patients, from hanging medications, to give oral medications and IVP and piggyback medications. In this same semester I did three rotations on OB floor. Each week I went to a different side of the floor, the mother and baby side (postpartum), labor and delivery and NICU., I have completed (so far) 2 rotations in ICU, the skills that were performed were total care for the 2 patients that I had. This included total patient care, trach care, administer of medications, had the opportunity to witness and work with ventilator and eventually leading to using an AMBU bag on the patient. Also completed 60 hours of preceptorship in the NICU.
