Dedicated and reliable veterinarian with three years of experience delivering prompt and detailed care for domestic animals with varying needs and urgency. Creative problem solver, providing expert patient triage and systematic care. Empathetic professional, relating to pet owners and listening closely to concerns to determine best care protocol for individual health.
As an associate veterinarian at the Granbury Animal Clinic, a mixed animal multi-doctor practice, I worked 40-60 hours(Monday-Saturday) per week and rotated on call every 3-4 weeks (Monday-Sunday). This clinic is over 90 percent small animal and approximately 5-10% large animal. I have become proficient in preventive care, small animal ultrasonography/radiology, diagnostics, internal medicine, emergency surgery, routine surgery, small animal dentistry, client communication, emergency medicine, managing an intense case load, working collaboratively with staff, and client education. During my time as an associate veterinarian at Granbury Animal clinic, I taught monthly staff CE presentations in order to facilitate better management protocols and further the staff's knowledge of veterinary medicine.
Through the opportunities granted to me through my employment under Dan McBride DVM, I was able to gain valuable client communication skills, many technical and clinical skills, and demonstrated an innate ability to take on leadership roles successfully. I began working in the high school work program and continued working during the summer and winter breaks of my undergraduate and veterinary school. Under direct veterinary observation, I successfully spayed and neutered over twenty patients for the local animal shelter while I was a third and fourth year veterinary student. I successfully trained five new technicians in my time at this practice and took a genuine interest in ensuring the daily success of this business.
Dr. Nancy Ing asked me to be a teaching assistant for her Companion Animal Science class after I did exceedingly well in her course. I fostered an environment where students felt safe asking me for assistance and maintained a professional, positive, working relationship with guests who traveled to college station to give lectures to the class. Dr. Ing helped encourage me to pursue a degree in veterinary medicine.
