I would draft motions, orders and other legal documents, draft and issue subpoenas, draft discovery responses and gather discovery documents to provide to all parties, schedule witness/trial prep, identify witness for trial, manage the ACDA's calendar, schedule hearings, etc. I liaised between the Department, the ACDAs, the court, and other legal counsel who represented the parents and children in these legal cases.

  • I received intakes of alleged abuse and neglect of children and completed thorough investigations. Investigations included completing child and adult interviews, home visits, contacting personal and professional collaterals, crisis intervention and the removal/placements of children if necessary. I completed safety and risk assessments of families and implemented safety measures in a fast paced environment. I utilized critical thinking skills and de-escalation tactics to ensure child safety. I worked in a generic unit from 2016-2019 and then in a CAC unit from 2019-2021. While being an investigator, I became a mentor and mentored/trained several new employees to become caseworkers by demonstrating casework, safety, ethics, documentation, etc. to these new employees.
