- Provide all aspects of cardiothoracic surgical services as a PA-C for a 3 surgeon group that involves first assistant O.R responsibilities including endoscopic radial artery and saphenous vein harvesting. - 21 year career as a Cardiovascular Surgery Physician Assistant in a seven surgeon, high volume practice performing around 2,000 cases annually. Extensive experience in all areas of CABG (all arterial, off pump, MIDCAB, etc,.), minimally invasive Port Access mitral valve repair/replacement (200-300 cases annually), standard sternotomy and mini aortic valve procedures (AVR/AVP), complex aortic cases (including valve sparring roots, full root, hemi and total arch and descending resections involving circ arrest), TAVR, ECMO, cardiac transplants (50-60 annually), and VAD's.
- Perform complete chest closures (sternal wires to skin).
- I have performed > 3,000 endoscopic vessel harvests utilizing Maquet/Getinge scopes involving both radial arteries and saphenous veins. Also, prior to converting to endoscopic technique, vast experience in open radial artery procurement.
- Manager and supervisor of 12 mid level APP's (PA's,NP's, and also CST's) from 2005-2015.
- Direct patient care of all post operative patients in the ICU and step down units. Responsibilities including all critical care management, chest tube insertions, IABP, ECMO,etc,.
- Critical care physician assistant team leader 2004-2021.
Responsible for daily rounds on 40-50 post operative patients when not in the operative suit.
- Assisted in the first minimally invasive mitral valve surgery in Beijing, China in October 2005 for the Chinese Medical Society.
