Work history

Lead volunteer

University College London Hospital (NHS)
07.2023 - Current
  • Led groups of 2-4 in various activities- arts & crafts, phlebotomy, newspaper handling & shopping- which vastly improved my leadership & team player skills.
  • Delivered patient-centred care to patients with dementia- for example, maintaining routine and going along with patients' stories, which usually revolve around past experiences- via compassionate & empathetic care.
  • Ensured patients felt respected- for example, a patient with a stammer kept apologising for taking up too much time, however with reassurance and patience, their shopping request was complete.
  • Communicate with patients via Bengali, English & limited BSL, to find dignified solutions to any problems- which built up interpersonal skills and create meaningful relationships with patients.
  • Improved the busy ward environment & flow in the UCLH pharmacy, under strict time regimens, by: organising medication & picking up orders from the porters via time management skills.

MACS Clinic
Watford, Hertfordshire
01.2025 - 03.2025
  • Collaborated with a multidisciplinary medical team to check patient wishes and care- including an anaesthesiologist, plastic surgeons and (circulating/scrub) nurses- which thoroughly built up inter-personal skills between medical professionals.
  • Built up medical knowledge- such as how to put on a medical gown, scrubbing and completing a medical audit on gynaecomastias, which further built up IT skills as Excel & Google Scholar were used repeatedly.
  • Interviewed patients before, during and after procedures to learn about their conditions as well as to learn how to provide a calming yet informative atmosphere during appointments.
  • Improved on clerical duties- gathered and delivered mail to pharmacies & compile company records in the medical audit, especially as comparisons with other clinics established.
