Summary

It is my practice to embody being an innovative team-player and results-driven leader with proven aptitude to lead initiatives and change. One whom has demonstrated the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships and advance diverse teams through complex situations; and has successfully developed and executed organizational vision.
As building administrator I was faced with the challenge of being a change agent for staff that were complaciant, students that had low attendance and a staff turn-over rate that was higher than the districts average. In addition, having to raise test scores on a decreasing budget. I was asked to lead this change because of my keen communication skills and willingness to motivate others.  To begin addressing the needs, I first met with each staff member individually to access and evaluate their strengths. This was from all stakeholders on all levels. We then met collectively to create a vision and mission for our team.  We then established procedures and redesigned our policies were needed. To address the issue of complancy, we assigned key staff members to specific areas and reinvented areas that are working, but could benefit from updates. An attendance committee was designed where an action plan detailed incentives, home visits and specific attendance goals. In the area of staff turn-over we started having celebrations, listening to staff needs, and address their concerns.  After addressing the emotional concerns, we were able to focus on increasing the academic success.  We collected data on previously implemented assessments, made yearly comparisons, and set individual goals for students.   Doing so led us to devise a plan to increase the academic success.  As a results of our efforts we were able to increase staff morale, student attendance, decrease staff turn-over, and reach our academic goals.
