Student Support Services
Coordinate and oversee the implementation of Section 504 plans, including initial evaluations, team meetings, and compliance with federal and state regulations
Provide leadership and direction for the counseling department, ensuring services meet academic, career, and personal/social development needs
Serve as a liaison between students, parents, teachers, and outside agencies for counseling and intervention services
Develop programs that support student mental health and wellness
Testing and Assessment
Organize and administer Advanced Placement (AP) testing, including registration, ordering materials, scheduling exams, training proctors, and ensuring compliance with College Board requirements
Oversee standardized testing programs such as PSAT, SAT School Day, ACT, and state-mandated assessments
Analyze test data and share results with stakeholders to inform instruction and counseling interventions
Leadership and Personnel Management
Lead the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of guidance and support staff, including school counselors and administrative assistants
Supervise and evaluate the performance of counselors, registrars, secretaries, and other student support personnel in accordance with district and school evaluation systems
Facilitate ongoing professional development and training opportunities for staff
Program Development and Implementation
Develop and implement a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with ASCA (American School Counselor Association) standards
Oversee college and career readiness initiatives, including postsecondary planning, financial aid workshops, and college fairs
Ensure equitable access to advanced coursework, dual enrollment, and career/technical education opportunities
Compliance and Documentation
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district regulations regarding student records, confidentiality, and support services
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for all guidance-related programs, including 504s, academic plans, and student interventions
Monitor and report student data, including graduation rates, college acceptance, and scholarship awards
Collaboration and Communication
Act as a key member of the school leadership team, contributing to strategic planning and policy development
Collaborate with school psychologists, special education staff, social workers, and administrators to support student needs
Communicate clearly with parents, students, and staff about guidance services, schedules, and deadlines
