Taught Grade 4 learners in a Tier 1 Charter School. Responsible for developing an Inclusive Classroom for learners, that will prepare them for their EOG Check-Ins examinations in English (ELA) and Math.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Create positive inclusive learning environment which prepares learners for examinations critical to the state, in ELA and Math.
• Implemement creative interventions for Standards in the Curriculum that has the lowest performance scoring.
• Develop Lesson Plans that are in line with Curriculum Standards.
• Maintain an up-to-date record of each pupil's progress within all areas of the curriculum, factoring areas for improvement and pupil's abilities into the teaching methodologies.
• Work closely with parents and carers, providing constructive feedback and discussing their child's needs so they can be incorporated into the classroom environment.
• Record instances of negative pupil's behavior such as disruption and disengagement; work closely with the Dean, Parents, Carers, that these issues can be rectified.

KEY ACHIEVEMENTS

• Implemented new creative methods of teaching with improved EOG-Check-In scores in 3 months.
• Motivated learners using positive reinforcements, and parental involvement, resulting in a 30% reduction in negative pupil behavior.
• Improved pupil's command of Reading and Math through the implementation of intervention strategies such as, small-group differentiation assessments.
• Several learners received highest test scores in their Check-In exams.

OUTLINE

Time Period- 6:00am - 9:00 pm.

• Taught Adult-Learner's from Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
• Learners were able to matriculate into a regular High School Diploma Program.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Planned lessons, assessments, and metacognitive strategies using the BURLINGTON ESL Platform to deliver interactive lessons.
• Taught the Initial Reading, Phonics and Communication courses to adult-learners, transitioning them into a High School Diploma Program.
• Administer Online/Hybrid classes when requested.
• Maintained updated Progress Records, conduct conferences with adult-learners on a continuous basis.

ACHIEVEMENTS

• More than 50% of the learners transitioning into the High School Initial Reading Courses and Math.
• Adult-Learners were able to receive higher-paying jobs in their community due to the ablitity to communicate in English.

OUTLINE

• Teach Grades 9-12 English (ELA) and English Literature Courses.
• Instruct English and non-English Learners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Established and maintained safe learning environment for learners in Grades 9-12.
• Implemented Meta-cognitive strategies for English Learners, to improve their academic scores.
• Developed and modified Curriculum based on Common Core Standards which will meet student's needs.
• Collaborated with parents and carers; monitored data and adapted instruction to optimize achievements with a 50% of English -Learner population.
• Taught English Grammar, Literature and Communication, to post-secondary students in preparation for Sophomore and Senior School Years.
• Planned lessons and assessments, using the Lesson Plan Design (LSD) site to store, share and deliver lessons.
• Use multi-media platforms, example, (HMH) to deliver interactive ELA and English Literature lessons.
• Construct Reading Libraries for assigned novels.
• Attended slated workshops throughout the school year that will enhance skills in Professional Developments.

• Creating College-ready learners in the area of ELA and English Literature.
• Positively assisting English-Learners to matriculate to the next grade-level and achieving scores that in par with their native English speakers.

OUTLINE

• Taught Grades 4,5, and 6, as an Exam Achievement Tests class.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Taught courses for Grades 4, 5, and 6 Primary Curriculum in English, Reading, Math, Social Studies, and Science, that would prepare learners for Exam level classes, (Grade 6).
• Planned lessons and create needed assessments based on the curriculum assigned.
• Create Subject-level 'subject learning stations' that will help to improve academic scores.
• Maintain log of student's work and progress that is discussed during parental conferences.
• Assistant Leader or Co-leader of the Creative Arts Club and Netball/Athletics Teams.

ACHIEVEMENTS

• 85% Pass Scores transitioning learners into the High School of their choice.
• Numerous regional awards in academic success
• Teacher of the month/year at Grade-level.
• Excellent Parent-Teacher Professional relationship that fostered academic success.
• Numerous awards/school-level cultural competitions.
