Nadifo Abdi

• Working at amazon has allowed me to showcase my adaptability (due to the roles changing every shift), problem solving skills, and teamwork.

• Conducted research pertaining to the field of psychology.

• This lab provided useful skills such as collaboration, leadership, and public speaking.

• I was fortunate enough to assist a special education teacher with setting up and organizing her classroom. This role required lots of patience and understanding since I would interact with kids who had moderate to mild disabilities.
• Provided psychoeducational support to elementary school girls who had behavioral issues, family struggles, and anxiety.
• Created activities related to emotional regulation, respecting authority figures, and accepting people for who they are.

Planning and organizing events

• Since I am a versatile individual, my roles would consist of setting up events, managing crowds, public speaking, and cleaning up.

Mentoring

• When the school would host a freshman academy event to give a tour of the campus, I was among the individuals who were constantly chosen to act as a role model and represent the school.

Fundraising

• In the student council, we would raise awareness and money for various organizations that needed donations. Since I work well with others, the members of the student council would create different booths; and I would make sure that everyone had an opportunity to voice their ideas so that it was a group effort.

• Helping people and making a difference in any way I can is one of my core values. When I volunteered at the Saint Mary's Food Bank I was in charge of packing food boxes and loading them into carts. Seeing the joy and relief on people's faces when they received a box of food and water was so rewarding to me. To be able to make a difference in their lives by providing them with the necessities they need is why I volunteered in the first place.
• I volunteered at the St. Mary's Food Bank my Sophomore (September 2019 to December 2019) and Senior (September 2021 to December 2021) year of High School.
