Performed inpatient/outpatient EKGs for the emergency department and preoperative department, including monitoring and interpreting cardiac rhythms and SpO2 for adult patients on multiple units throughout the UNC System.
Collaborated with members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote patient safety and meet emergency needs, and reported problems or variances to the charge nurse, with written follow-up to the nurse manager.
Scheduled patient procedures, maintained logging/schedule system, analyzed digitized information from pre-recorded ambulatory ECG tapes, conducted stress exercise testing, and assisted with stress echoes or nuclear stress studies.
Generated quantitative arrhythmia reports for physician review, applied and removed Holter monitors to both in-patients and out-patients; explained procedures for equipment usage, keeping a diary/record, and the use of event monitors.
Cleaned equipment and performed preventative maintenance after use including troubleshooting, reviewing leads, and isolating technical problems with recorders as well as participated in research projects involving treadmills or Holters.
Followed treadmill procedures for patient assessment and standard protocols, preparation, ECG recordings, test performance, test endpoints, and recovery monitoring including monitoring vital signs before, during, and after testing.
Prepared related reports, performed Holter monitor set-up and education, inputted test results into database, documented procedures, conducted cardiovascular stress tests based on physician orders, clinical assessment, and standard protocols.
Analyzed patient diaries and identifies incidents that corresponds to heart pattern irregularities detected on heart monitor, notified cardiology consult of any dangerous rhythms, and interpreted and documented cardiac rhythms.
