Pastoral Care Volunteer
Ocean University Medical Center
Brick, NJ
2019 - 2021
- Volunteered in a 300 bed hospital
- As a volunteer, I did not visit hospice patients.
- -Having no medical training, I never asked why a patient was there, just so that I could not accidentally make an uniformed prognosis about their condition.
- A patient sometimes would confide in a volunteer, but the information had to be forwarded to the proper professional
- Since the area the hospital served was extremely religiously diverse, religion and prayer was only discussed at the request of the patient.
