Motivated and compassionate Biology graduate with hands-on shadowing experience in occupational therapy and a strong background in community service. Passionate about supporting children’s development and well-being through patient-centered care. Seeking to pursue a career in pediatric occupational therapy and contribute empathy, communication, and dedication to improving the quality of life for pediatric clients and their families.
I observed both hand therapy and pediatric treatment sessions with a variety of patients. This helped me understand the profession's holistic nature of and how practitioners address the physical, emotional, and cognitive aspects of patient recovery.
I observed hippotherapy and learned how therapists use a horse’s gait to simulate human walking and improve balance, posture, and sensory regulation. I sidewalked children during sessions, including patients with autism and Down syndrome. I also shadowed occupational therapists, physical therapists, and speech-language pathologists, gaining insight into how these professionals collaborate to address children’s physical, sensory, and communication needs.
I co-led the development and maintenance of the organization’s website to effectively communicate its mission and outreach efforts. I independently researched and implemented technical solutions to improve both the functionality and visual design of the site, ensuring information was accessible, accurate, and engaging. This role required strong written communication, attention to detail, and adaptability, as I translated the organization’s mission providing humanitarian aid in Africa and the Middle East into a digital presence.
