· Staff floor nurse providing care for inpatient acutely ill patients with a ratio of 1: 3 on a 14-bed intermediate care unit.
· Patient population includes GI bleeds, Afib with RVR, SVT, hypoxic respiratory failure, heart failure exacerbation, Asthma exacerbation, BIPAP/CPAP/ HFNC requirements, COPD exacerbation, DKA, ESRD complications, sepsis and other infectious complications.
· Duties include managing patients who decompensate rapidly and need thorough assessments and observations. Maintaining professionalism and teamwork on the unit and communicating with interdisciplinary team members.
· Supervision patient care technicians /unlicensed assistive personnel.
· Cardiac rhythm interpretation.
· Workplace violence prevention.
· Recognizing acutely decompensating patients.
· Managing continuous drips to include diltiazem, amiodarone, nicardipine, insulin etc.
INTERNSHIPS
· Perform patient assessment/reassessments on a regular basis in accordance with established policy.
· Assesses, develops, implements and evaluates a comprehensive plan of care through a multidisciplinary care team process in conjunction with the patient/family in internal and external settings.

· Provides care to as many as 5 medical/surgical patients at a time on a 31-bed floor.

· Types of surgeries/medical conditions include urology, orthopedic, gynecology, infectious disease, pulmonary, trauma, oncology, geriatric, thoracic, nephrology, psychiatric, etc.
· Experienced multiple rapid responses and a few code blues. Consistently monitoring and recognizes clinical deterioration.
· Trained in pressure injury identification and staging as well as chest tubes care.
· Electronic health record used is MedConnect PowerChart.
· Comfortable with the use of the Alaris pump, as well as PCA pumps, JP drains, chest tubes, external fixation devices, IV medication administration including insulin drips, heparin drips, etc.
