NATALYA PHILLIPS

Creative, hardworking, and passionate UCSD transfer student of Neurobiology. Nearly three years of experience in college-level science education, and seven years of experience in creative arts as a full-time musician and independent contractor. Highly dedicated and motivated to learn.

• STARTneuro (UCSD) Competitive program that trains, mentors, and funds diverse transfer students entering neuroscience research. Lab techniques include intracellular recording, extracellular recording, EEG, PCR, gel electrophoresis, western blot, immunohistochemistry, and introductory Python coding. Weekly slide preparation and presentations of methods and findings. Hands-on research experience at the Ayyagari Lab under the mentorship of Dr. DaNae Woodard, and capstone poster presentation on photoreceptor mutation of the retinal Prph2 gene.
• Resounding Joy Inc. Nonprofit music-therapy organization. Assisted in research, access & inclusion, donor appreciation, social media, and marketing. Capstone slide presentation to PeaceHealth’s Stroke Support Group on neuroplasticity in response to music.

• President's List (MiraCosta College) 3X recipient of term honor for academic achievement.
• Presidents Permanent Honor Roll (MiraCosta College) Earned over 60 units and surpassed the required GPA minimum.
