Nate Criswell

Currently responsible for the daily operations of 48 individuals providing facility services to various nuclear manufacturing facilities, laboratory and office complexes throughout the Y-12 Nuclear Security Site. In addition to supervising this team, routinely serve as acting Senior Section Manager and manage 7 other supervisors and their teams. Duties include or have included the following:

• Supervising the daily activities of assigned team(s), managing operations, providing safety and security guidance and briefings
• Led the radiological laundry department overseeing 2 multi-million-dollar contracts and acted as the sub-contract technical representative
• Continuous Improvement element team lead, teaching others about Lean concepts, conducting Lean projects and evaluating areas and analyzing processes to implement Lean programs
• Researching new, innovative products that can be utilized by assigned team
• Work heavily involves Dept of Energy Integrated Safety Management System, Job Hazard Analysis, safety risk management and mitigation, accident investigation, root-cause analysis, collaborative safety and much more in the scope of safety-related work in an industrial nuclear environment
• Providing leadership teams with metrics and operations analysis
• Providing mentoring and coaching for team members and junior supervisors
• Writing technical documents pertaining to scope of work, standard operating procedures, training documents, and legacy service documents for teams in the future
• Developed the first standardized training curriculum for department, providing all new employees with standard training and professional development
• Developed the first standardized training curriculum for new supervisors in department.

• Led an assigned team of security systems operators at the Y-12 Nuclear Security Site
• Improved operational efficiency by developing standard operating procedures for routine tasks related to system operation and maintenance.
• Conducted security assessments and directed security force personnel to assess possible threats
• Was involved in security system maintenance, assessment, evaluation, testing, upgrading, and training
• This position required the understanding of security concepts that govern industrial, special access nuclear facilities as well as federal nuclear regulations, policies and procedures.
• Maintained detailed records of all incidents and investigations, streamlining future decision-making processes.
• Regularly reviewed system logs for signs of suspicious activity, enabling preemptive action against possible intrusions or threats.

• Led protective service teams in executing security missions for the U.S State Department in Afghanistan
• Assisted in developing security plans for U.S Diplomatic mission in Afghanistan at various locations
• Assessed security postures and plans at various State Department facilities throughout Afghanistan
• Led teams in the secure and safe movement of U.S Diplomats and dignitaries throughout Afghanistan
• Evaluated physical security systems, plans and forces used to protect State Department assets and personnel
• Developed and implemented complex safety and security plans
• Planned and conducted briefings for adjacent U.S partners such as DoD security teams, special operations personnel and other government agency personnel

• Served as a Special Response Team Leader as part of the protective security force at Y-12 Nuclear Security Site
• Conducted security operations involving the protection of nuclear assets, infrastructure and personnel
• Conducted monthly continuing training in advanced security tactics in the scope of nuclear asset protection
• Participated in security planning and integration meetings and presented briefings to team prior to each shift
• Investigated suspected incidents thoroughly, gathering evidence promptly to support swift resolution of any issues that arose.
