GENERAL-PURPOSE COVER LETTER

  • Nathan Brockbank, MBA
  • Provo, Utah

  • Nathanpbrockbank@gmail.com
  • [Date]
  • [Hiring Manager's Name]
  • [Company Name]
  • [Company Address]
  • Dear [Hiring Manager's Name]
  • I am writing to express my interest in the [Position Title] opportunity with [Company Name]. With an MBA, more than 10 years of experience across business operations and financial services, and a background in client relationship management, process improvement, and project coordination, I offer a combination of business judgment, operational discipline, and dependable execution.
  • Throughout my career, I have been trusted to solve problems, organize complex work, and follow responsibilities through to completion with minimal supervision. In wealth management, I supported client service and operational activities connected to more than $120 million in managed assets. As a fulfillment manager, I oversaw operations supporting more than $1 million in annual revenue while coordinating invoicing, collections, vendors, and high-volume fulfillment initiatives.
  • My professional strength is bringing structure and forward momentum to situations that require organization, accuracy, and follow-through. I work effectively with clients, advisors, vendors, and cross-functional teams, and I am comfortable managing multiple priorities while maintaining strong service standards. Colleagues can rely on me to take ownership, communicate clearly, and complete work on or ahead of schedule.
  • I recently completed my Master of Business Administration at Utah Valley University's Woodbury School of Business, graduating with a 3.95 GPA. My graduate education strengthened the strategic and analytical skills I bring to my practical experience in operations, finance, and relationship management.
  • I would welcome the opportunity to contribute my problem-solving ability, operational experience, and commitment to dependable execution at [Company Name]. Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the possibility of discussing how my background could support your team's objectives.
  • Sincerely
  • Final improvements before using it
  • The resume is now structurally sound, but three additions would make it materially stronger:
  • 1. Add exact employment months. Use a consistent format such as "January 2025–Present." Years alone can create questions about employment gaps.
  • 2. Add genuine performance metrics. The $120M and $1M figures are strong, but each recent role needs at least one additional measure—clients supported, accounts transitioned, requests processed, deadlines met, vendors coordinated, or time saved.
  • 3. Replace generic software wording. List the actual CRM, financial-planning, brokerage, project-management, and reporting platforms you have used. Do not add software merely for keywords.
  • The cover letter should always be customized by replacing the bracketed text and adding one sentence explaining why that particular company or role interests you.
