Perform high complexity preventive and ad hoc maintenance on various instrumentation in the
laboratory (i.e., LCMMS, HPLC, GCMS, GCFID, ICPMS, and any upcoming new technology); assist in
instruments installations
• Perform experiments and suitability tests to evaluate new laboratory instruments and meet QA
criteria for release to the laboratory operations
• Perform troubleshooting of instrumentation, including communication, software, and hardware.
• Performs troubleshooting of assay-related issues in relation to instrument issues (i.e., low counts,
irregular pressure traces, retention times, reagents, etc.)
• Ensure appropriate documentation is in place and maintain documentation to comply with
guidelines of accreditation bodies and governmental agencies, manufacturers, and department
recommendations
• Maintain a high level of competency and expertise with instrumentation (i.e., reading related
articles, attending workshops, in-house lectures, off-site training, and seminars)
• Maintain inventory of critical parts for instrumentation
• Assist in special projects from the manager or other department managers and directors as
needed
• Demonstrate initiative by making efficiency and productivity suggestions and providing consistent
feedback
• Maintain all regulatory agency compliance requirements through documentation, audits, and
corrective action
• Manage relationships with external service providers and coordinate with laboratory operations
to schedule instrument service
