Nathaniel Barham

Summary

Born and raised in Colorado Springs. My first work experience came in 6th grade when i went on the road with my father (who was a long haul truck driver) for about 5 weeks during the summer. During this first 5 week trip I learned a lot about how someone should conduct themselves as a professional. About how to appropriately treat and work with customers, how to work as a team and communicate effectively with people to accomplish a task. But most importantly how to focus, work hard, push myself, overcome obstacles and complete a job. This would be the first of many trips that i would take over the course of eight years until i would get my first official job at Big 5 sporting goods.

  • Started at CDS (Creative Dining Services) as a grill cook and swiftly worked my way through and mastered all 8 positions that the job offered including cashier, maintenance and stocker over the course of two years.
  • I often traveled to various locations managed by CDS to fill in or help manage staff shortages and large events including weddings and several high profile events at CCL (Center for creative leadership)
  • Because of my experience at every position and my tenure at CDS's Ent location I often trained new employees regardless of where they were going to be working be it a cooking position like pizza or grill or a position like cashier or stocker.

Cook/Team Trainer

  • I started at Culvers as a cook and spent my first couple months learning and growing more proficient at all the different stations in the kitchen.
  • After a short time I transitioned to front of house to became familiar with all of the front of house stations. Allowing me to jump back and forth and fill in wherever I was needed.
  • After a year of working and mastering every position in the restaurant from cooking on the line to prepping, porter, cashier, team trainer and eventually shift lead, I was offered the management position which I turned down.
  • For two more years I would continue to provide excellent customer service to customers and mentorship to my co-workers, using my experience to enhance to function of the restaurant as a whole.

  • Salsa Brava was my first job in the food industry. I worked at Salsa Brava as a busser for about six months and learned a lot about the food service industry which would prepare me for my next job's.

  • Big 5 was my first job. I started as a stocker/sales associate and would eventually move around to work the register and all other positions in the store.
