Fabrication Project : [The Sizzle Rig], For this project I designed and fabricated a small portable grill out of 8'' schedule 40 pipe horseshoes, rebar, and a small section of expanded steel. I started by brainstorming a design, then drawing a print to 1/4" scale. After my print was complete I was ready to start fabricating. I started by cutting the pipe on center one side with the plasma cutter the other side using the oxyacetylene torch. Then I cut out the end caps for the pipe using the torch. For the welding portion of the project I wanted to use a combination of my skills to challenge myself. That being said I beveled the caps and did a 6010 rod root pass and 7018 hot pass, fill. and cap. I also used the GTAW process to add my smoke stack.
