Meritorious Award Detail

The individual was left hanging upside down in the cab of his semitrailer that crashed. The individual's rig was pulling a tanker of fuel. When we arrived, it was burning, phone lines were down, and power lines were across the street. The driver was pinned between his seat and the steering wheel. The tanker was carrying more than 6,000 gallons of gasoline when it rolled onto its side and was on fire. Our efforts to rescue the individual were successful, and we were honored with the Medal of Valor and Meritorious award for our actions.
