As a first semester Pathway Program student in engineering and my limited experience in engineering work, my priority is to find internship opportunities. My only work related to engineering was helping in designing and learning some basic principles of apartment plans with my father. Also, since I was a child, I got to know the working environment of the building and its construction stages. This interest and acquaintance was formed because my father is a civil engineer. I am eager to learn new things. Especially in environments where work is physical and not just on paper. I have a good relationship with other colleagues and managers at work. I am a very quiet person, but I am obedient and stick to the rules. I had various experiences in a short period of two years and the reason can be found in my interest in trying new things. I am very interested in a job related to an engineering company, even if it is not directly related to my field. I want to progress and I am interested in progressing in my workplace.
The Top Deal Trading shop is for one of my relatives names Mr Ghaffari. When I came to America, I went to him for work. And I worked for him for a year. It is not official but I learned different things there. Moving pallets, unloading and loading, packing, testing electronic devices and even selling TVs and other household items. Even now, I go there two or three days a week and work.
At Macy's, I worked at the women's shoe department. And it was by far the busiest department at Macy's. Every salesman had to deal with many customers during the day. In my department, I did a lot of things other than sales. For example, in fulfillment and shipments and warehousing. Working at Macy's was generally good and I had a good relationship with everyone and the managers. I left because my studies became heavier .
Due to the proximity of McDonald's, I worked at McDonald's for 3-4 months. The drive thru cashier must both take the order and collect money from the customer. You have to get used to it because it can be a bit confusing at first, especially when 4-5 cars come at the same time.
The first semester was kind of challenging for me. It took me time to get used to the stressful work and study schedule. I am interested in my studies and I have improved my time management. I like my work to be related to my studies. This opportunity exists for me in internships. Both because of my lack of related work experience and because it is related to my field of study.
