• Facilitates tutoring sessions with under-resourced students in the Los Angeles area to enhance academic performance, increase literacy rates and cultivate an environment of growth
• Collects data regarding student progress, partakes in quarterly performance assessments and weekly KIDS meetings to ensure quality service at site
• Provides effective communication with mentor teacher and BruinCorps staff by sharing notable observations and substantial feedback
• Selected nationally as one of the 33 students to participate in the renowned Humanities Collaboratory at JHU
• Led a 10 week independent research project focused on internalized racism among Chicano students called ¡Ponte Las Pilas!: A Gendered Perspective of Mexican-American Students Combating Internalized Racism
• Presented at two academic conferences including the Leadership Alliance National Symposium in Hartford, CT and the Johns Hopkins University Humanities Symposium in Baltimore, MD.
