Company Overview: Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) is a web service that operates and scales a relational database in the AWS Cloud. Engineering leader for RDS PostgreSQL open-source engines, having teams located in North America, Asia Pacific, and Europe regions.

• Provide technical leadership, and collaborate with teams to plan and execute engineering features and user experience for a world-class database service on the cloud.
• Work with other engineering leaders and product managers to launch the major and minor releases of RDS and Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Launch features for RDS PostgreSQL, such as Blue Green, and support the roadmap for future releases.
• Drive engineering and operational improvements to RDS PostgreSQL engines, upgrades based on customer requests, and operational issues.
• Conduct direct interactions with customers to handle their database issues and consultation calls on the best practices of RDS Service.
• Work with Technical Program Managers, Product Managers, on release roadmaps, and ensure the team is well positioned to support new features and projects.
• Partner with teams such as support engineers, solution architects, and technical account managers to help customers use the service.
• Drive LTTR (Long-Term Ticket Reduction) improvement for the RDS and Aurora PostgreSQL engines.
• Manage the operational teams to support the AWS RDS PostgreSQL fleet of 100K instances for AWS customers.
• Author/review RCA (Root Cause Analysis) and COE (Correction of Actions) for critical issues.
• Support the on-call rotation for technical escalation and manager escalation for RDS open-source engines (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB).
• Scrum meetings to handle the releases, and prioritize the features and improvements.
• Manage multiple concurrent programs, projects, and development teams in an agile environment.
• Hire, mentor, and develop technical contributors and engineers, and provide guidance and opportunities for career growth and professional development.

• Lead the team to engineer the database service offering of Google Cloud PostgreSQL and GCP Bigtable (relational and NoSQL offering).
• Architect the HA/DR Best Practices on the Cloud environment for the databases
• Develop Architectural standards and processes such as GRC, TECH07, CBID for related technologies
• Migrate database from Oracle to GCP CloudSQL PostgreSQL and develop documentation
• Migrate database from on-prem PostgreSQL to GCP CloudSQL PostgreSQL using logical replication and native migration tools
• Perform POC for ora2pg and pgloader migration tools
• Assist application teams in identifying performance issues on Cloud SQL databases and tuning long running queries on PostgreSQL databases
• Work with cross functional teams such as network, storage, Cloud Build to fix various issues and solutions
• Provide database performance related guidance to the application teams
• Provide consultation to PDO teams/customers on databases services on Cloud
• Provide consultation to PDO teams/customers on database migration strategies to Cloud
• Lead team of 20 Oracle DBAs and 10 PostgreSQL DBAs Guild Teams (experience leading teams currently working remotely)
• Manage on-call rotations for the team and serve as escalation point of contact
• Handle escalation calls for technical database issues and outages
• Mentor and train team members to help them learn and build their skills
• Manage workload for team members and report on project/tasks assignments of all team members on a weekly basis
• Use Agile Tools and Methodologies to plan iterations and ensure User stories are handled for each iteration
• Setup weekly meetings with vendors such as Google & Oracle to track technical issues
• Requests/Incidents are handled as per the SLAs
• Approve and monitor upcoming changes through Change Control Tools
• Collaborate with Global Team in Asia Pacific and Europe for 'Follow the Sun' support(geographically diverse teams)

• Create production, Dev, QA databases as per development team specifications (10g/11g)
• Run /configure backups using RMAN (TSM) and data pump
• Install / configure OEM agent on database servers
• Perform annual DR test for Production databases using Data guard
• Configure Data guard broker and performance monitoring production databases
• Perform schema and database refresh based on user requirement
• Test performance of OEM for application tablespace monitoring
• Perform migration of RMAN catalog database
• Perform upgrades of databases from 10g to 11g
• Fix audit issues and security issues on Production databases
• Provide on call support as per rotation within the team

• Integration of OEM (Oracle Enterprise Manager) with Tivoli and Peregrin Software
• Install Oracle Grid Control Agent to monitor oracle database
• Handle day to day database related issues and monitor Peregrin ticketing system
• Work on Installation of EMC Symmetrix SAN plugin onto Grid control so that SAN can be monitored
• Install Oracle 11g Database, ASM and Grid Control
• Upgrade Grid Control to Release 5 from Release 2
• Perform schema refreshes based on user requirement
• Work on implementation of Control-M scheduler and phasing out Crontab
• Run ESM scans on Databases regularly and remove ESM violations (Enterprise Security Manager)
• Primary support of Grid Control Server
• Handling issues, patching up and blacking out targets
• Manage Production databases having RAC and non RAC environment
• Environment: Oracle 10g/11g, RAC, IBM-AIX 5L, OEM (Grid Control), RMAN, ASM, PL/SQL, TOAD and SQL
