In June 1992 I was hired back as the yard foreman at Northwest Pipe. As the yard foreman I was in charge of the daily maintenance of the forklifts, loading, unloading of incoming and out going freight trucks. Incoming freight was checked in and sorted then put into stock. I would also clean and organize the yard to keep a safe work place. I would also load trucks for our drivers to take to our customers in Montana and Wyoming. A few years later I was offered a position a city desk sales. I have continued that position to become the manager at at city desk. Expanding my knowledge in all the departments at Northwest Pipe. I feel I could assist in any department if called upon. I consider myself an asset to the company.
I started as a general shipping and receiving clerk. Receiving products, labeling products ,stocking the shelves with the products. I also readied products to be shipped out to other branches of the company , and to our other customers. I then quickly moved into sales still doing shipping and receiving. I was chosen to go to American Saw School to become a band saw blade manufacturer. I would make band saw blades, porta band blades , and fix customers blades they brought in to be repaired. I continued in sales until I was offered a chance to return to Northwest Pipe.
After leaving college I started at Northwest Pipe . I performed general warehouse duties. Picking orders, stocking shelves, assisting in any possible way I could. I would assist the truck drives in loading boxes for deliveries out of town. Soon I became a city delivery driver. I would pick orders and deliver the orders to our customers in Billings. Attention to detail and in a timely matter to insure the customer was taken care of to the best of my ability. Moving into the yard was my next advancement. At this point I would load and unload trucks . Organize the the yard and keep it safe and clean . During this time I became the yard foreman. I then left for personal reasons.
Hired as a laborer I would assist in setting up traffic control signs for road construction. I would read plans and set up traffic signs to control the flow of traffic through work zones. Moving the signs as the work progressed. I also made highway signs for the state of Montana. Then the fires in Yellowstone National Park occurred. The company sent me to the fires. It was my responsibility to maintain the porta potties and portable showers for the firefighters. I spent the rest of the summer in Yellowstone maintaining the companies equipment. I left in early September to attend college at Eastern Montana College.
After High School I joined the United States Army. I attended basic training at Fort Benning Georgia, continuing AIT at Fort Benning. I was trained to be an Infantryman 11B . During basic and ait training I was part of the the Honor Platoon. I was part of a cohort unit that trained and stayed together for three years. As a company our first station was Fort Carson Colorado . There I became a track personal carrier driver. I was in charge to keep the vehicle maintained and at the ready at all times. During our time together our unit became one of the most decorated units in peacetime . We traveled together as a united to Mainz Germany . We were disbanded in June 1988.
