Crafting of authentic Japanese Haori from vintage and antique Japanese silks:
I have collected over 200 vintage and antique Japanese silks crafted in historically-relevant regions.
I craft bespoke culturally-accurate Haori for women using the collected silks.
Each Haori is unique and comes with a diligently researched information card detailing the approximate age of the silks, the region where they were woven, and how traditional Japanese clothes were fashioned to incorporate fabric economy, comfort and utility, and space constraints of the weaver.
Collection of First Nations Stone Carvings:
I have become a student of First Nations Heritage - particularly the Inuit. I collect stone carvings from prominent and yet-to-be discovered Inuit carvers. I have recently traveled to Haida Gwaii in British Columbia to learn more about the people and their struggle to become independent and reclaim their heritage including stolen totem poles and funerary relics of their ancestors. Avoiding cultural appropriation I am writing articles to disseminate the information I have gained with the goal of spreading the word about the First Nations peoples to interested readership.
