I received my Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education-English from the University of Puerto Rico. I worked as an English teacher for middle school in Puerto Rico from 1995- December of 1998. Moved to Tampa and worked as an ESOL and Intensive Reading teacher from 2000-2003.
I consider myself as an organized and dependable candidate successful at managing multiple priorities with a positive attitude. I worked as English teacher of other languages now known as ELL. I have experience teaching both English and Spanish to foreign nationals. Nurtured students struggling to learn foreign language and tailored teaching to best enhance competency. I also worked as a Language Arts / Reading teacher from 2004-2007. During that timeframe I got certified in Spanish K-12. and have been teaching Spanish for more than 10 years ranging from Grade 6 Exploratory Spanish, Beginning Spanish, and Spanish 1 High School Credit Course. In the past I collaborated in designing lessons for the Grade 6 Spanish Curriculum for the District. I also was in charge of the World Languages Newsletter under the direct supervision of the World Languages Department Supervisor, Melissa Morgado.
I enjoy integrating technology and a variety of platforms into my daily lessons. These platforms allow students to have a safe space when speaking or writing in Spanish.
Since the implementation of the Teacher Evaluation System in Hillsborough County, I have always scored as Highly Effective.
I am a team player and maintain good communication with students in keeping them informed of any important matters in my class. With technology and platforms such as Nearpod and Canvas, I am able to accommodate and facilitate continuous instruction even when students are off campus.
