In 2005, I was in High School when the company first opened (I was part owner with my Father). In the morning before school I would contact brokers to get loads for the drivers and also help with directions to ensure that loads were delivered on time. In Oct of 2009 for my 21st birthday (as a gift) I received the other 50% of the company and bought out the trucks and trailers which lead me to continue to run the business independently. I incorporated many new additional responsibilities which included more customer service, tax paperwork, locating parts and calling around to different repair shops to find the best price for each part, doing services on the trucks and trailers, as well as making sure the trucks were running properly. While servicing the trucks and trailers I had to constantly be on the phone with part stores to ensure I received the correct part. I also had to multitask when complications on and off the road occurred: ie: trucks breaking down, accidents, detours, problems with freight, finding tow trucks or on the road repairs when trucks were out of state (several times getting in the service truck and driving out of state to repair trucks that were on the road). I've also loaded and unloaded cargo for receiving, dispatching, and staging of freight.
