Accomplishments
While performing Maintenance Turnaround duties as a Boilermaker and Shift Foreman with Specialty Plant Services, at a DOW Chemical Plant, in New Orleans, Louisiana, I managed a consisting of 25 Boilermakers and 10 Welders. During the four-week project, I worked with managed my team to safely conducting maintenance actions, beyond the expectations of Dow Chemical and Koch Specialty Plant Services. With my expert guidance and organizational skills, we were able to complete the 6 vessels originally assigned to my company. Aided the other contracting company hired by the plant, who was behind schedule for two by personally completing 176 of the 230 valves and 110 of the 166 heat exchangers assigned to them. In doing so my team brought the entire turnaround project back on schedule and finally reached completion three days before the projected end date. The actions of myself and the under my supervision saved Dow Chemical from a planned $4 million a day loss and potentially more due to a delinquent work scope. In doing so I was able to strengthen the relationship between my employer and the client and securing an extended contract for future projects.
Professional achievement in the superior performance of my duties while serving as Flight Line Night Shift Work Center Supervisor and Collateral Duty Inspector, Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 262 (Reinforced), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, III Marine Expeditionary Force from 5 January to 11 April 2011. During this period, I led the maintenance effort by personally performing 217.7 Collateral Duty Inspector hours and 591.5 maintenance man hours resulting in the completion of 152 maintenance action forms during predeployment training, Exercise Cobra Gold and Operation Tomodachi, I set the standard for the department by performing Expert maintenance on all 12 Ch-46E aircraft. As a result, the squadron safely completed 1156.7 flight hours during 90 sorties. My initiative, perseverance, and total dedication to duty reflected credit upon myself and in keeping with the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and the United States Naval Service.
As the only Flight Line Division Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative on night crew, I took direct and personal responsibility for inspecting, supervising, and completing numerous maintenance actions during the high operational tempo of the 31st MEU. Filling a billet typically held by a senior Noncommissioned Officer as a Lance Corporal, I quickly identified the need for my division to focus efforts on high priority tasks in order to support the daily Flight Schedule. As a direct result, the squadron’s CH-46E aircraft safely completed all missions during the MEU cycle. Thanks to my leadership and personal example, the Flight Line Division was continuously the subject of noteworthy praise within the Maintenance Department.
I served as the Technical Training Noncommissioned Officer for the Flight Line Division. As the Technical Training NCO, I managed the accountability, tracking, and implementation of regular updates to the training jackets of 43 Flight Line Marines. I scheduled weekly technical training to ensure consistent development of the Flight Line Division Marines. Additionally, I accurately and efficiently logged training, monitored qualifications, and screened the Advanced Skills Management Online application for upcoming expirations. I managed this program without deviating from my normal responsibilities and obligations as the night shift Work Center Supervisor, Plane Captain, and Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative.
