Duties: Working as a heavy mobile equipment mechanic to perform a variety of job duties
disassembling, assembling, repairing, adjusting, troubleshooting; a variety of components, sub-
assemblies, assemblies utilized on HMMWV and associated equipment. Utilize my knowledge
of the makeup, operation and working relationship of a variety of systems to facilitate assembly
and disassembly. Perform visual in-process inspection of the items removed for obvious defects
such as cracks, broken items, scoring, deep pitting, etc. Perform repair, rebuild, assembly of
major fuel, mechanical, suspension components such as final drives, differentials, steering
assemblies, cooling fans, blowers, linkages, brakes, levers, winches, etc. Determine
serviceability of parts. Clean, replace, reassemble and make adjustment to component parts,
check tolerances, make adjustments according to established specifications, using technical
manuals, work orders, blue prints and other applicable technical publications. I have worked
Code G to Code A HMMWV trucks and 1020 HMMWV. Use precision measuring instruments.
Install items such as fuel pumps, generators, water pumps, starters, fuel filters, tappet covers,
and set timing. Install final drive assembly, various fuel, oil lines, fuel cells, engine,
transmissions, controls, instrument panels, instruments, check all drain plug covers, manual
drain controls for proper position, check all units, services with prescribed applicants, fuels.
Utilize a variety of tools common to the trade such as wrenches, pliers, ignition tools,
screwdrivers, a variety of test equipment such as feeler gages, micrometers, etc. Assist in final
checks, tune, and adjustments of vehicles prior to presentation for final inspection. Adjust,
repair or replace parts or units that are acceptable, final drives, steering assemblies, engine
accessories, etc. Repair generated type rejects such as hydraulic leaks, air leaks, and misaligned
items. I have worked on HMMWV and ASV Combat Vehicles where I perform overhaul and
repair work of heavy combat or heavy mobile equipment. I perform preventive maintenance on
tools or equipment utilized in the production operations. I perform pre-shop analysis involving
a number of major systems and components of vehicles where total disassembly may not be
required. Drive vehicles as required in diagnosing malfunctions and placing in an operable
condition for pre-inspection TI or 12/20. Utilizes a variety of gages and instruments,
micrometers, bore scopes, torque wrenches, dial bore gages, straight edges, dyes, etc., to
determine if engine can be repaired by pre-shop method. Remove end plates of transmissions
to adjust. I Perform rebuild/repair, assembly, adjustment, troubleshooting, and applicable
functional test of major mechanical systems and components for heavy mobile vehicles.
Systems and components include but are not limited to diesel and gasoline engines, suspension
and brake systems, steer differentials, final drives, auxiliary generator sets, fuel injector/fuel

pumps, hydraulic systems and transmissions. I diagnose malfunctions of defective units,
assemble and perform limited functional test such as testing for leaks, misalignments,
maladjustments. Determine causes of malfunctions of unit rejected by Quality Inspector;
perform repair or replacement as necessary ranging performs minor adjustment to complete
rebuild. I work with lower grade workers performing assembly of mechanical components and
provide technical assistance as required. Perform diagnosis of malfunctions on items being
repaired/rebuilt by lower grad workers. Utilize blueprints/schematics, technical publications
and Depot Maintenance Work Requests (DMWRs) as required. Repair can range from minor
adjustment to complete rebuild. Provide technical assistance to lower grade employees. I work
in-process, disassembly, shipping/finals, and 10/20. Perform duties involved in the
troubleshooting, checkout, adjustment and tune-up of assembled HMMWV. I examine vehicles,
start, and performs necessary operational checks to detect malfunctions in various systems. I
diagnose causes of deficiencies and/or malfunctions noticed during operational test and
subsequent formal inspection. I adjust, align, replace parts or components to correct, and
performs repairs without removal of the major components such as replacement of injectors,
blowers, steer differentials, final drives, etc. Improvises troubleshooting methods to locate and
correct malfunctions when normal procedures are not sufficient. Visually checks over vehicle to
identify missing parts of deficiencies prior to release for inspection. Work independently with
minimum technical instructions and guidance. Receives vehicle and list of adjustments to
accomplish correction or makes such repairs to units, assemblies or parts that are possible
without a complete disassembly and rebuild process. I make any replacement necessary where
repair is found impractical and install decals, applicable kit items, straps, ect. I have knowledge
of the mechanical makeup operating and working relationship of a variety of heavy combat (or
heavy mobile) types of vehicles and how electrical, hydraulic, and other non-mechanical
systems interface with and affect the mechanical systems. I have knowledge, skills, and abilities
to perform, troubleshoot, and analysis of all vehicle systems, assemblies, and parts such as
diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems.
I use test and measuring instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, dial bore gages,
ignition timers, fuel pump testers. I use technical manuals, diagrams, schematics, DMWRs, work
orders and other applicable technical publications. I work independently with minimum
technical instructions and guidance to accomplish work. I Plan work sequence including
selecting tools, equipment and parts, referring only the most difficult and unusual problems to
the supervisor. I have knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and other non-mechanical systems.
Replace hydraulic lines on vehicles. Install decals, applicable kit items, straps, etc. Install,
troubleshoot, repair wiring harness, electrical, gages, sending units, etc. Goals are always meet
if possible. Paper wok is always turned in on time. Follow all safety rules, regulations; wear all
protective clothing and equipment necessary for job performing. Maintain work area in order
to prevent accidents. Perform preventive maintenance on all tools and equipment utilized in

the production process. Work independently, and as a team member, in order to accomplish
the mission, and support the soldier in the field. Work under normal supervision. I participate in
Lean SIx Sigma and problem solving corrective action events to improve the process and
remove waste.Assist teams to improve cost, quality & delivery of the processes being engaged,
using established criteria for specifications, tests, processes for compliance with customer
demand & established goals for cost, quality & delivery. Participate & assist in the planning,
evaluation, coordination & implementation of Red Rivers Six Sigma Program. Review reports &
participate in making recommendations to improve operating effectiveness. Assist in the
development & implementation of data collection & management systems to support Lean
objectives. Identify problems from collected data & select solutions from alternatives in
guidelines & precedent cases. Assist specialists in preparation of their Lean manufacturing
processes to ensure compliance with depot regulations & goals. Perform pertinent analysis &
assist in determination & preparation of operating programs commensurate with resource
availability & established priorities.
