I"ve been fortunate in that I've been given some nice opportunity's between Grayback and Northwood, I like to think its in part my laid back personality and partially my competitive nature as I utilize that for motivation. I used to buck bales for ranchers in Junior High. When I was 13 i found out I could start working so I went out and got my tractor drivers license so I could got to work for a farmer that was my first paid over the table job and I have been at it ever since.

  • Cut and cleared brush and dug trenches to create fire lines using polaskis, shovels, hazel hoes, chainsaws etc.
  • Patrolled burnt areas after fires to locate and eliminate hot spots that could flare or rekindle.
  • Established water supplies, connected hoses, and directed water onto fires.
  • Acted quickly to contain hazardous chemicals likely to catch fire, leak or spill.
  • As a Squad boss I was responsible for communicating with over head, as well as motivating my squad.
  • Safety was also something in the squad boss position I had to be vigilant about as well as training and briefing the crew.
