Department Supervisor

The Home Depot Inc
2815 35th Avenue, Greeley
09.2022 - 03.2026
  • Ran Garden department prior for a year ran Paint and millwork
  • Maintaining a safe work environment, ensuring the associates are working safely and efficiently.
  • Train, develop and celebrate associates to the needs of the business. Utilizing store metrics to show associates where customers are buying in the store, showing how to order more product. How to restock shelves properly, organize and decontaminate overstock areas so its easier and efficient to restock. Acknowledge associates when they hit a milestone or if they're are doing a great job buy giving bravos( recognition card) or homers which involves badges , money incentives, and points in a shop which they can get great items.
  • Train associates on every piece of equipment and ensure that they are utilizing the popper piece of machinery safe and efficiently. Following safety standards while operating. (equipment i can train associates on were Reach truck, Sit down forklift, pacer, electric pallet jack, order picker, electric ladder, portable loading dock, and ballypal pallet jack).
  • Unloading trucks of soil, mulch, pavestone and trees. Pallet load would vary from 12 to 30 pallets. I would organize and label pallets in designated areas.
  • Hold associates accountable. Input manager notes when i have a conversation regarding poor work performance, poor attendance, safety, poor customer service. If the behavior didn't change it would go as a write up and up to a termination.
  • Work fluctuating shifts sometimes working more then the 40 hours that im scheduled, coming in on my days off, working longer then the 8 hour shift that be turned into a 14 hour shift, working overnights. Cover callouts, calling in other associates and if i cant get another associate to come in i would stay until To the needs of the business.
  • Spend time with associates to learn where their strengths and weakness lie, which areas they can grow in and where there is opportunity. Delegate work to the proper associates and ensure work is being done in a efficient and safe manner. I was in charge of leading a team that consisted of 16 associates If other departments were lost/ not being productive i would step in and ensure other departments were in motion.
  • Utilizing store metrics to help feed the needs of the business. Focus my recovery teams in hot area where shelves were low or out. Order more or less product based on sales. Ensure told sold sku's are fully loaded and the second and third locations are fully stocked as well. Compete with other home depots to see which store can have the fastest and highest sell through.
  • Ensure store policies are being followed, enforcing dress code, overtime, attendance policies, Safety procedures, cleaning and the proper way to process hazmat, opening doors/docks of the building, compensating customers, call our asset protection if people are stealing/ concealing product.

Overnight Freight Team Associate

The Home Depot Inc
2815 35th Avenue, Greeley
03.2021 - 09.2022
  • Worked as a freight associate, garden and lumber recovery, unload team and was in training for the night replenishment manager.
  • I would work the carts of freight (starting at 9:00pm) departments would have cartons varying from 100 cartons to 350 cartons a night. I would place the product in the respected homes , not to overfill, and leftover product (upstock) i would place it in the respect overhead space. I would organize, decontaminate and downstock the overheads in order to keep a great flow and make sure downstacking was as easy as possible.
  • I became a trainer on all of the equipment at my 6 month and in order to become a trainer you must have two years of equipment and no safety incidences. I am fast, efficient and safe when i operate my equipment. The two year wait was waived for me due to my performance. Equipment i am able to drive/ train: Reach truck, sit down forklift, pacer, electric pallet jack, order picker, electric ladder, portable loading dock, and ballypal palletjack.
  • I would get called in early (6:00pm) in order to set up for unload and assist with unload ,due to callout's or a heavy freight flow (season). I would also unload trucks from the SDC and the number of pallets would vary form 15 to 60. the only people that were allowed to unload those trucks was the NASM ,NRM, and myself(only one person per unload since it required the pacer or epj).
  • Once i finished my department i would jump onto the reach truck and help other departments with pallet's into the overheads, downstock other departments or help with upstock with the orderpicker.( mostly the aisle that had the most upstock or the heavier items.)
  • I was a garden/ lumber recovery associate as well utilizing the sit down forklift and reachtruck filling in pallets of soil, mulch, pavestone, bunks of lumber (from 4ft bunks to 20ft bunks) concrete, shingles, drywall, and mud.
  • At a time both our NASM and NRM quit , we hired someone from manager from Tmobile who had no experience with freight. I was helping with running the unload team, freight team, and recovery teams, while the store was undergoing a store reset which lasted for a month which also prevented some of the freight to get stock. He quit after the 4th month and i decided to apply for a department supervisor postion, the NRM position was offered to me but i wanted to explore the other side of the business and wanted to see if i grow in the business.
