- Operate glass-lined crystallizers, various sized stainless steel reactors, elution tanks, various sized columns, and process tanks in order to extract specific proteins, nucleotides, or enzymes from natural sources.
- Operate various equipment such as diaphragm pumps, centrifuges, filter boxes, Buchner funnels, filter presses, and other miscellaneous glassware in order to extract specific proteins, nucleotides, or enzymes from natural sources.
- Work with various solvents, aqueous solutions, and filter aids such as diatomaceous earth and Whatman filter media to aid in the extraction of proteins, nucleotides, and enzymes from natural sources.
- Perform precipitation and purification of proteins and enzymes using ammonium sulfate salt fractionation.
- Use Reverse Osmosis and Ultrafiltration to perform concentration and/or diafiltration of proteins, enzymes, and nucleotides pending on molecular weight of the molecules.
- Use various solvent crystallizations and column chromatography (ion exchange, size exclusion, or affinity) resin to purify or isolate proteins, nucleotides, or enzymes.
- Perform polish filtration, pH adjustment, or the addition of a stabilizer to help during lyophilization or desiccation of proteins, enzymes, or nucleotides.
- Perform in-process and final assays such as HPLC, GC, KF, solubility measured via turbidimeter, protein via biuret or Warburg-Christian method, or enzymatic using a substrate.
