At Stihl I started in the warehouse department as a picker/packer. Soon after I was one of two people in the warehouse chosen to be certified for forklift certification. Later I was put in charge of the shipping/receiving are of the warehouse where I was responsible for ensuring the timely departure of all large outbound orders and inbound product/supplies. This included everything from wrapping pre-picked pallet orders to creating all B.O.L.s (Bill of Lading) for each order and informing each freight company of of the need for pickup to loading/unloading of all trucks. During "booking season" (busiest time of year) we had days of shipping more than one million dollars in product. Other duties included:
My main job for 15 years, I have had many roles and responsibilities with the company. Some of the commercial/industrial government agencies/businesses we have consulted with include Forest Products Labs and Memorial Veterans Hospital. Also worked for projects involving many residential homes/neighborhoods - consulting with companies such as WECC. I have obtained a wide knowledge base from working here, from installing energy monitoring equipment, to complete house remodeling with focus on energy efficiency research, to project managing, to data entry.
Started working for the company through a temp agency (Celerity Staffing Solutions) in a temporary position. Clasen Quality Coatings (CQC) brought me on as a full employee a couple months later, and promoted me from the starting position of "Boxer" to a position in the refining department called "Tester". After a month or so I was promoted to "Refiner", skipping the usual prerequisite position of "Mixer". The "Refiner" was the head of the Refining Department. The Refiner position was the top non-supervisor position in the production side of the business. During this time I broke the record for number of conches completed during a single shift, which, at least at the time if not currently, was 17 conches.
