h I have been volunteering at the SF Marin Foodbank for many years, doing many different jobs. I started with bagging groceries as part of an assembly line to feed people who can't leave their homes. I did home grocery deliveries. I have worked around 80 hours worth of shifts and had a hand in providing food to hundreds of people

I worked as a Greenager, a summer youth leadership initiative for highschoolers. We planted new bushes and plants around and inside the AIDS memorial garden. I also pulled weeds, mulched, pruned, and watered the area to keep plants healthy and walking paths clean. I also learned about botany and how to take care of many types of plants.

Rowing

I have loved my time as a rower. Since 8th grade, I have been blessed with wonderful coaches and mentors who have taught me how to row, but also how to work hard for myself and the people around me. Rowing is the ultimate team sport and I have built so many special connections with my teammates and people I have met in the community.

All of my prior experience has allowed me to be the rower and person I am today.

  • In 8th grade, on the novice team, we practiced six times a week and also went to Friday morning sessions to train with the varsity team. This developed my skills as an athlete and technique as a rower while teaching me the value of hard work
  • Freshman year on the Varsity team I was lucky to row in the U17 8+, I also did steady state on my own in the mornings, which helped me get stronger and fitter, allowing me to go 6:18 as a Sophomore.
  • Coach Christian ran a very tight practice, sending out the weekly plans in advance and expecting the best from us every day, helping me reach my full potential and understand the value of hard work
  • In the spring of my Sophomore year, I trained in the pair with Mark Machle to race at regionals and nationals, pushing each other every day to reach our goal of winning youth nationals
  • I made friends with the other boys around me and gave technical advice to the younger guys whenever they asked for help, mostly trying to lead by example, as their success improved the entire team
  • Throughout all of high school, I consistently did steady state or lifted in the mornings
  • I went to every practice (except when I was sick or injured and learned how to stay accountable in a high performance team environment.
  • Over the summer I was invited to Selection Camp in 2023 and 2024, I learned from the coaches and adapted my technique. I also faced a lot of challenges, such as sickness and not being selected for the national team, and tried to overcome it by appreciating where I was
  • At MRA, I learned a new technique from Coach Geordie, who put countless hours into helping me become better technically and understand that I didn't have to do everything by myself in team sports like rowing
  • At Cal, I have learned to love the grind as we practice twice a day, Monday through Friday, and are expected to perform and compete at the highest level every day.
