Nicole Ayllon

My school partners with Salve Regina University each year to help in marine biology research. As research assistants, we set up and run a wildlife catch and release program to keep track of the island's marine life. All our research is then used by the university.

Some of the skills I utilized include:

• Performed statistical, qualitative, and quantitative analysis.
• Participated actively in regular meetings with fellow researchers to discuss project updates, challenges faced, and lessons learned during ongoing activities.
• Organized research materials, maintaining a well-ordered workspace conducive to productivity.
• Gathered, arranged, and corrected research data to create representative graphs and charts highlighting results for presentations.
• Enhanced research accuracy by diligently collecting and analyzing data from various sources.

I run a program to provide my school's local food pantry with freshly grown produce, which is grown and collected by us.

Some of the skills I utilized include:

• Sorted and performed quality control measures of donated items.
• Maintained organized and clean worksite.
• Assisted in loading and unloading of transport trucks.

The YMCA at Newport, RI offers an afternoon program for intellectually disabled individuals in the area. I volunteer in helping work with them through the events we have scheduled for each afternoon.

Some of the skills I utilized include:

• Assisted with special events and programs.
• Maintained clean, neat, and operational facilities to serve program needs.
• Supported engaging, fun, and smooth-running events by helping with organization and planning.
• Used strong interpersonal communication skills to convey information to others.
• Developed strong interpersonal relationships with those who attended regularly, earning their trust and respect through consistent empathy and understanding.

TEAM Fame is an afterschool program held at the Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, RI offered to underprivileged middle school students. The program offers meals, tutoring, life skills workshops, and tennis classes to the students free of charge.

Some of the skills I utilized include:

• Mentored new volunteers, fostering a supportive and inclusive team environment.
• Supported underprivileged families with the distribution of essential supplies.
• Gained knowledge and experience working with children in educational setting.
• Offered tutoring services to students struggling academically, helping them improve their performance in school.
• Mentored at-risk youth, offering guidance and support to help them make positive life choices.

I have been occasionally tutoring local 7th and 8th grade students all throughout high school.

Some of the skills I utilize include:

• Provided homework assistance using specific curriculum and materials.
• Supported students with helpful study habits and exam strategies.
• Collaborated with students to complete homework assignments, identify lagging skills, and correct weaknesses.
• Motivated students towards learning and studying to build self-confidence and reduce fear of failure.

Every summer I babysit children for friends and family.

Some of the skills I utilize include:

• Played games, worked on puzzles, and read books to young children.
• Communicated positively with children and guardians.
• Organized and cleaned home after activities by picking up toys and straightening up play room.
• Maintained a clean and organized environment to ensure the well-being of children under care.
