Work History

Undergraduate Microbiology Researcher

College of Charleston
Charleston, SC
05.2025 - Current
  • DNA was extracted from local atmospheric and aquatic samples in search of salt-loving microbes known as Halobacteria. Environmental DNA was amplified with Halobacteria-specific primers via PCR. Gel electrophoresis and 16S rRNA gene sequencing provided strong evidence that Halobacteria are present in non-hypersaline environments and dispersing via atmospheric pathways.
