During my 14 and a half years, I had multiple job duties, which included typing appeals, briefs, letters, and memos, both through written notes and dictation. I sent out all of the documents I prepared to the higher courts, as well.
I also handled the daily mail by opening it, reading it, and distributing it to the proper person(s), and scanning it, uploading it into the correct case file.
I've handled the judges' schedule that came in weekly, making sure to put any relevant hearings into our scheduling book, and assigning attorneys for that day.
I have experience going to court proceedings where I've done arraignments, write-ups, and assisted in animal cruelty cases, where I would assist the attorney in preparing and organizing documents they would need for court, along with any audio or visual materials they asked for.
I've managed the front desk receptionist area,
where my job was to answer the phones, field their questions appropriately, and greet any walk-ins in a professional and courteous manner.
In 2020, I transferred to the Prothonotary's Office, where I learned more about civil law. I processed various documents, including but not limited to civil complaints, divorces, appeals, liens, and custody.
I am highly proficient in e-filing, answering the phone, dealing with the public, and managing my time.
Recently, we started doing passports, and I am the lead passport agent, where my job is to assist in setting up appointments, going over crucial information needed to make their appointments go smoothly. I look over the application and point out any issues I may see as a potential hold-up on them receiving their passport in time for travel. I also finish preparing the passport once the applicant leaves and mail it to the correct address in Philadelphia, depending on their circumstances.
I handle custodies in the Brominski building on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays, where I accurately create new custody cases by assigning them a case number. I also explain their next step in the process regarding mailing procedures.
I also handle PFAs, where I create a new number for them, docketing it, and sending it to the State Police when necessary.
I am cross-trained in the Clerk of Courts Division, where I handle summary appeals, background checks, basic docketing, expungements, and answering the phone.
I've been going to the Hazleton Annex for a few months, where I've been representing both the Prothonotary and Clerk of Courts. While I'm there, I do e-filing, greet the public, and assist them in the best way I can while maintaining a level of professionalism. I sit with the staff from the Register of Wills/Recorder of Deeds, and through my time being there with that office, I have gained a general understanding of marriage licenses and the steps involved for customers to obtain one. I also run and get signatures from our director when they are either very busy or working solo.
