In addition to the decade+ of experience working in education, I also have a decade of experience working in retail in food service during my early years in the workforce. Retail work taught me many lessons in patience, empathy, and proper communication, in addition to understanding how to de-escalate potentially aggressive situations. I found that these experiences kept me humble and also very aware of just how key things like maintaining transparency and honest communication are to creating a healthy work environment. These are lessons that I have carried with me throughout my life, implementing them into every job and situation I find myself in, and they have proven time and time again to be a fundamental necessity to apply to any situation in one's life.
