Accomplishments

*Unit president for 3 East surgical/Nursing governance board member*

i. Lidocaine options added to the acute care order set to make painful procedures more tolerable for patients.

(NGT, foley and IV insertion). Also, added instructions for usage in the orderset so staff don’t have to go searching for how to utilize the medication.

ii. Collaborated with Surgeon to educate staff on these changes, scheduled a huddle for staff regarding new orders demonstrated by. Also collaborated with pharmacy to get the actual medications for the demonstration.

iii. Took initiative to get these new acute care orderset medications stocked in our accudose to promote nursing utilization of these options to improve patient experience.

iv. Got the hypoglycemia attestation task created so staff will no longer miss hypoglycemic values that result with routine labs and prevent delays in care.

v. I am the sole bedside nurse requested /invited to provide nursing feedback, suggestions and be part of the team that is changing the entire subcutaneous insulin order set for Centra.

vi. Created an Education and Updates board next to the nurses station that I maintain in my free time. One half of board focuses nursing updates (sharepoint/huddles)/communications so staff who don’t check email frequently are getting that information. The other half of board provides helpful info new staff may not be aware of/ education refreshers for all staff.

vii. -Created a CNA helpful tip handout with all expectations/duties for CNA’s so they have something to reference. Held a meeting for the CNAs going over these details to help return excellent care standards to pre-covid times.
