Hello! I'm Nijel Abraham, a pre-medical, who has embarked on a journey combining hands-on experiences, practical engagements, relationship-building, and community service. My passion for serving others began during high school when I volunteered at a local hospital, where I witnessed firsthand the importance of teamwork in healthcare. This experience, along with volunteering at a food bank, solidified my commitment to helping those in need. My shadowing/interning experiences at Alvarez Healthcare and Stockdale Radiology provided insights into the medical field, doctor-patient relationships, and various aspects of radiology practice. At Central Cardiology Medical Center, I observed cardiac diagnostic tests and rehabilitation sessions, gaining a deeper understanding of cardiovascular health and patient care. Outside of my academic endeavors, I love to participate in the extracurricular activities offered at Cal Baptist University. This includes having the opportunity to work as a student leader for the freshman class at my college. I developed incredible relationships, taught effective time management, discussed the importance of mental wellness, and mentored my students on how to be practical with financial decisions while also participating in a mission trip in Puerto Rico. Being a minor in philosophy has helped unlock an inquisitive side of me that has helped explain why things function in this world and has helped me learn to never stop being curious. As I look down the line, I am dedicated to further pursuing my academics with a concentration on medical school, where I hope to combine my interest in learning various insights about medicine with serving the community to the best of my ability. My end goal in life is to make sure everybody has a smile on their face and to know that an honest day's work was done by myself. I am passionate about helping others and ensuring that I can do whatever I can to positively impact the communities I come across.
Served as a club officer for the pre-medical club, focusing on the social media aspect of the club. I have been proficient in content creation, scheduling, and engagement through this lens.
Participated in a mission trip to Puerto Rico. While there, I was able to serve the community of Ponce by helping repair the damaged homes from the hurricane. We rebuilt homes, trimmed the landscape, and painted homes while building relationships with the locals there.
