Provide exceptional nursing care on a busy L&D/antepartum unit. Provide expert consultation with lactation counseling to breastfeeding mothers. Assess pregnant women with low and high-risk pregnancies by frequent monitoring, vaginal examinations, and diagnostic testing. Provide education to women regarding nutrition, care of newborn and growing fetus, breastfeeding, and perineal care. Prepare women for labor and delivery both vaginally and surgically, serve as circulator during surgical procedures, and provide obstetrical and recovery care post-surgery. Assess newborn status at birth, determine Apgar scores, and resuscitate as necessary. Administer high-risk medications for women with complications. Communicate with OB Team with changes in patient status and management of care. Managed unit in charge and triage nurse roles.

• Providing first aid to students and staff. Tracking health, dental, and immunization records for students. Developed and maintained relationships with staff and families to facilitate prevention of diseases and health-related information. Tracking and advising on COVID-19 illness within the school and surrounding community. Reporting to families and staff on close contacts and providing recommendations on quarantining and prevention. Keeping schools abreast of policy changes from the CDC and DC governments. Filling in at the second campus as needed. Accomplished multiple tasks within established timeframes.

• Assess pregnant women in their homes, monitoring the fetus with doppler, and maternal vital signs. Provide education on diabetes, preterm labor, hypertension, and nutrition to clients. Administer medications as needed to pregnant clients to prevent preterm labor, hemorrhages, and other pregnancy-related complications. Teach in-home clients on use of in-home monitors (TOCO) to track preterm uterine activity. IV starts/therapy and medication pumps. Perform newborn assessments in-home upon discharge from the hospital.

• Assigned as school nurse to McKinley Tech High School.
• Responsible for administering medications as ordered, keeping students’ files updated with immunization records, dental and health certificates, and providing vision and hearing screenings.
• Organize and implement health prevention and educational programs/classes/counseling appropriate for teens and the community.
• Occasional floats to elementary and middle schools in the area.
• Providing education/supervision to medication administration aides.
• Oversaw health services for school of approximately 800 students and faculty.
