I am a motivated and experienced Novice/Age Group Swim Coach who focuses on prioritizing swimmers individually to achieve collective success. My goal is to create an environment where swimmers have no choice but to thrive. The three driving principles I employ at all times are:
1. Respect
2. Responsibility
3. Resilience
As a coach I will never demand respect. I will always earn it. Young swimmers are not receptive to demands and by inviting them to listen and participate, through every interaction, each swimmer has a unique opportunity to succeed.
I believe that swimmers at all levels from Beginner to National must be responsible for their progress. I also believe that, as coaches, we share this responsibility by providing direction and attainable goals. There is never a time to sit back and be comfortable with where we are at. Improvement is vital to the success of any swimming program.
My goal is to instill trust in my swimmers by coaching with integrity. By proactively building trust, swimmers will always have an opportunity to move forward from set-backs. I will always guide my swimmers on their journey through the sport but also in life. Life is in fact what makes us resilient.
As a coach, my priority is to give back to the community that gave me a sense of direction in life.
So many individuals in swimming made a huge, positive impact on my development that I can continue that tradition.
I always like to include a statement that reflects my personal belief system:
We often believe that the only way forward is the path we can see, but we fail to see that someone else’s path may work better for them.
