ODRC's motto it to “Reduce recidivism among those we touch” It is the responsibility of CO's to maintain control of the institution and to provide safety and security for all staff, inmates, and community. Officers also enforce rules, regulations, policies, and follow ODRC procedures. While maintaining an authoritative figure, also build professional rapport with incarcerated adults to make day to day task run smooth as possible. Building rapport is crucial for the first step toward rehabilitation and integration back into society.
Job functions are to answer phone calls, create meeting agendas and keep notes, file, copy, scan important documents, and use computer programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. AP job duties in a corrections settings are based around helping administration and unit staff run housing units.
AP1’s particular job duties are to interview and hire inmates for institutional jobs, sign off on outgoing money orders, answer direct messages or questions of those in need, and to help unit/case managers with filing and organizing their documents.
