Proven ability to maintain composure under pressure while executing critical fire suppression strategies. Adept at collaborating with diverse teams to achieve duties as assigned, demonstrating both technical expertise and strong interpersonal skills in high-stakes environments.
Apart of an all-hazard response task force. Serve primarily as a wildland firefighter. Tasked with operating heavy equipment (D3, D5, and D6 CAT bulldozers) on the fireline, as well as transporting this equipment to the incident safely, by means of tractor-trailer or piggyback CMVs. Expected to be versatile, and perform the roles of chainsaw operator, engine operator, heavy equipment operator, and/or type II firefighter on incident. Endure high temperatures and heavy smoke, remain focused and efficient throughout long nights. Build fire breaks with a number of tools, not limited to heavy equipment.
Expected to be available for out of region assignments that can last, but are not limited to, up to fourteen days. These assignments are typically for wildfire support. Expected to be knowledgeable of fire potential according to weather forecasts, and to perform morning briefings to squads concerning fire weather updates. Perform the regulated arduous pack test (45lbs, 3 miles, 45 minute limit) to maintain red card, which is a condition of hire and reoccurs annually. Act as a fireline medic and perform emergency medical care if the need arises.
Perform maintenance and rehabilitation on all emergency equipment, this includes, but is not limited to, tractor-trailers and bulldozers. Maintain composure and professionalism when on incident, act decisively and safely. Work with variety of individuals and departments to achieve a similar objective. The primary goal of TAMFS is the conservation and preservation of Texas' natural resources.
Transfer, treat, and respond to various EMS calls. Act with patience and work cohesively with colleagues to perform tasks. Obtain patient data, medical history, and vitals, document all findings and turn in at the end of each shift. Work along side paramedics when responding to occasional 911 calls.
Work overtime hours with shifts ranging from 24 to 48 hours. Trusted to maintain and operate ambulance vehicles, as well as all equipment onboard. Must be capable of lifting patients ranging from 80lbs to 200lbs+, and efficiently transferring these patients to/from stretcher & to/from ambulance. Ability to respond quickly to calls, driving ambulances with lights and sirens when necessary, while still maintaining safety.
Fell, prune, climb, and treat trees with moderated chemicals such as fertilizer, fungicide, and insecticide. Must follow proper safety protocols when handling aforementioned horticulture chemicals, also must have a general knowledge of these chemicals so that the sufficient amount is applied and used properly. Climb to heights of over 60ft, utilizing chainsaws & other cutting tools for precise pruning.
Must have a general understanding of climbing and rigging knots, safety & well-being may depend on this understanding. Trusted to maintain all tools and equipment, to ensure readiness for job related operations. Trusted to drive and maintain a company-owned work truck. Must have the physical health and composition to be an agile tree climber, efficient tree feller and timber hauler. Must also have a general knowledge of arboriculture and horticulture. Required to travel with a company-owned truck between ranches.
